Colorful Colorado
Posted on July 1, 2009
The morning of the wedding, we struck out for the mountain side in search of some beautiful wildflowers to photograph. We were not disappointed…despite my horrible ability to follow directions! We went up to a place called Ute Mesa which overlooks the town of Westcliffe. The clouds added to the drama of the mountains…and I was struck by how beautiful these tiny flowers were even with those majestic mountains rising up behind them.

The Details {Kansas Wedding Photographer}

Just a few of the details Stevie and Andrew had for their big day….I’m wading through the hundreds of photos trying to get everything organized and edited. Hope you are enjoying this hot summer day!!!

Andrew + Stevie=Married {Kansas Wedding Photographer}

Wow. What a beautiful way to spend a weekend! We traveled to Westcliffe, CO to document the wedding ceremony of Andrew and Stevie. The weather was gorgeous…low 80s during the day, a few showers, cool in the evening and no 100 degrees in sight! The ceremony was picture perfect, with the storms that threatened all day holding off long enough for everyone to gather under the tent for the reception. Stevie was a stunning bride, making my job easier than I could have dreamed!
I absolutely loved being a part of such a blessed weekend. Everyone was so gracious and generous…from our host family (the incredible Dave and Nancy North) to the many guests who made the trek from all over to Colorful Colorado, to the bride and groom themselves. God blessed every moment of the weekend, and I know He will be part of this marriage. Enjoy this sneak peek (and a couple more to come later in the week)!

The preparation!

Just a couple of C with his mom and dad….they are all so gorgeous! I keep looking at the picture of C in the basket from yesterday and can’t help but smile! Hope you are all having a great week!!!

Sneak Peek {Kansas Baby Photographer~6 months}
Posted on June 22, 2009
Baby C brought his mom and dad to my studio on Saturday. When they walked in, he was all smiles and happiness. But…when we got him in front of the lights, we really had to work at getting smiles out of him at all! He was happy/content…just wanted to check everything out instead of smile and look at me! :) We had fun though and got some really cute images. I’ll post a couple of the family pictures tomorrow! Enjoy the sneak peek and have a great week!!

Fashion Friday {Kansas Children’s Photographer}
Posted on June 19, 2009
Every time someone books a session with me, the first question they have is, “What should we wear?” I know how hard it can be to coordinate your family for portraits…we all want the final product to be something we are proud to display. Choosing the right outfit will go a long way toward a beautiful image. That doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to look great for your photo session, though! Many times, great outfits can be pulled together from what you already own. Even if you want to purchase new clothes, you don’t have to go all out…my favorite stores for putting together great outfits are Target, Old Navy and The Children’s Place.
For today’s Fashion Friday (I’m going to feature this each and every Friday!), I’ll show some of my favorite sessions of great outfits for kids. We’ll look at families next week. I’ll have a Fashion Friday for seniors, babies, large groups, etc. in the weeks that follow.

The Classic {White shirts and denim pants}

Coordinating Color {Look for different patterns and textures in same color}

Layer a sport jacket over a t-shirt for a modern touch

Fun Pettiskirts Make Fun Portraits {I have a few available for you to use...just ask!}

Keep it simple! {This dress is perfect for styling the whole family...blues and yellows in other patterns would make a great family portrait!}
Flower Power!
Posted on June 17, 2009
Sorry I haven’t posted yet this week. I’ve been very busy trying to get dance photos finished up and galleries posted. I keep thinking a blog post is next but never get enough time to prep images for the blog…but this morning I’m here! I took a few more wildflower photos last week when I got a new lens in. I had to test it on something!!! These wild flowers and dandelions are in the field south of my in-laws house. I don’t remember seeing so many wildflowers in years past…is this just a good year for them or am I more aware??? Here’s hoping you are having a great week! We are enjoying a little more relaxed pace this week as I only have one session…coming up on Saturday.
If you are looking to book, I will take one more session next week and have a couple of spots open for July. However, I am looking to fill August and will be posting a special for August in the next couple of days. It’s also not too early to start booking your family portrait session for this fall for Christmas card pictures. I will be posting my Christmas mini session dates soon.

Sneak Peek…Cimarron High School 2010 Senior {Kansas Senior Photographer}
Posted on June 15, 2009
We did the first of two mini sessions for this gorgeous senior on Saturday night. She has agreed to be a rep for me, and I couldn’t be more excited! She’s fun, lots of energy, up for anything…and the camera loved her! Once again, we were racing against the weather…we started about 7 p.m. in town hoping to get some good sunset images with the horse afterwards. Around 7:45 I realized the light was getting away from us as the huge storm clouds were rolling in. We didn’t get the images with the horse I had envisioned because of the storm…and I had to crank my camera stettings…but we still captured some beautiful images with her horse I think. Her family was wonderful and I truly enjoyed this session. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!!

She’s Gonna Be Famous!

Well, they all are! Stevie and her band have been recording an album and need some images to grace the cover… I was flattered she asked me to help them out. You can hear some of Stevie’s music and learn more about her on her website: www.steviemcgee.com
On my way down to Meade last night to do the shoot, a huge thunderstorm was rolling in from the west. I was praying we’d have just enough time to get some good images before the downpour hit. We actually had about 45 minutes, and it worked out great. Just when we were getting ready to try a few images in a different location, my husband called and said we were in a tornado warning and to head home. I actually thought about ignoring his advice and finishing the shoot but thought better of it. I’m glad I did…there were tornadoes spotted on the ground around Plains, large hail and heavy rains. But I prayed all the way home and only drove through about 2 minutes of heavy rain. The sky was AWESOME for the shoot though. Hope you guys like them!!! (And…btw, I tried some more fun types of processing to give them an edgier feel. What do you think?)

Sneak Peek~Miss M Turns ONE! {Kansas Children’s Photographer}
Posted on June 9, 2009
Little Miss M came to visit the studio yesterday full of one-year old goodness. She was unbelievably adorable. And…she loved the camera! The crinkled up nose was the icing on the cake for me…well, til we go to the icing on the cake! We did a cake smash at the end and it turned out messy and awesome! She took some convincing but she finally dug in and enjoyed it. She’s going to bring the rest of her family in a couple of weeks so you’ll get to see this little munchkin again soon! Thanks for coming in and enjoy your sneak peek!!
