Sneak Peek {Kansas Family Photographer}

Posted on August 31, 2009

I had the pleasure Saturday morning of capturing this 4-generation image! Dr. Gwaltney is a fabulous eye doctor in Dodge City…she’s the one who put Emma in glasses and helped dig out a piece of metal from Travis’s eye at one point. And…she’s a fellow Jayhawk!! She brought her mom and grandmother and daughter to get this generations shot…which I love. We got a few of Miss M for her 3-year pictures. She’s only a couple of months older than Madelyn…but she’s so much taller! Try to imagine…Madelyn is in the 4th % for height and Miss M is usually over the 100th% !!! We had fun with bubbles and peacock feathers and little mice…I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!!

M Family Sneak Peek {Kansas Family Photographer}

Posted on August 25, 2009

I was a little intimidated going into this session because mom had told me the almost-three-year-old had a hard time at his session a year ago. I made sure to have plenty of my sure-fire secrets planned to keep his attention…and was prepared to work fast and be happy with whatever we would get. Well…he did GREAT! Mom and I were so impressed! Little sister wasn’t as smiley this time but she at least looked at the camera. Anyway…I had fun and was relieved it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I anticipated. Thanks for a fun start to my day!! Enjoy the sneak peek!

Sunflower Sisters {Kansas Children’s Photographer}

Posted on August 24, 2009

The sunflowers made a stunning backdrop for these two beautiful sisters! Their mom called after seeing the pictures of my kids last week and wanted some of them! Who can resist the golden glow of a sunflower?? Aren’t they gorgeous?

Out Takes and a Silhouette

Posted on August 21, 2009

I thought you might enjoy a few out takes from our bed in a field shoot.  Maddie is as ornery as they come…and then she just tilts her head, gives a sweet smile, and knows she can get away with anything.  God help us when she’s a teenager!  You can see in this series how silly she is.

1st Day of School!

Posted on August 20, 2009

Carter starts pre-school this year and Emma starts 2nd grade!!  My kiddos are growing up!  They both got up with the alarm clock at 6:45 this morning so they could be on the bus by 7:30.  I’m sure that time will get a little later as the year goes on but we wanted to have plenty of time for all those first day things…especially taking pictures!  I even went up to the school just before the bell rang to get some of them with their new teachers.  It’s going to be a GREAT year for both of them.  We are so blessed to live in a small town with a great school system.  (Since I’m including so many, you can click on the small pictures to see them larger!)

Sunflower Field

Posted on August 19, 2009

We have a huge field of sunflowers right behind our house.  Last year, I totally missed the opportunity to take pictures.  This year, I’ve been planning it for a while (imagine that!).  The kids thought the sunflowers were pretty cool so I didn’t have to convince them much to take the pictures.  Except Emma…she HATED the dress I’d bought her.  And, honestly, it doesn’t fit very well.  But it sure is cute, and we agreed she only had to wear it for pictures.  Here they are!

MY kids! Sunset in a field…and a bed!

Posted on August 18, 2009

The rest of this week, the blog is going to be dedicated to my children.  Although they may not even realize it or see these posts!  (Emma gets it though…as we were taking these pictures last night she kept telling me which ones she did NOT want on the blog!)  I’ve had the busiest summer of my life…probably took on too much with too little help.  However, I’m counting my blessings and am excited to have had so much work!!  God has truly blessed this little adventure.  My kids have been so patient this summer and have seen me sitting in front of the computer more than I’d like to admit.  We’ve had lots of fun times too…don’t get me wrong!  But I wanted to take this week to just help the kids get ready for school, spend extra time cuddling with them, and hopefully get a few end-of-summer images of them.

I’ve been wanting to do this set of pictures all summer.  With three days of summer left, I finally got them!  My sweet husband, aka the reluctant assistant, dragged Emma’s bed out to a field of CRP grass north of our house.  I think he thought I was nuts.  But for some reason, he just did what I asked and helped with keeping the kids in line.  It was sunset and I was losing light quickly…what light I did have was VERY red.  I processed them with a vintage feel so it took out most of the red.  Anyway, it was fun; I got the images I wanted; and we were all VERY itchy when we got home!!  Enjoy…and look for more as the week goes on!

Sneak Peek {Kansas Bridal Photographer}

Posted on August 17, 2009

Friday evening, with winds whipping and storms brewing, I headed out to photograph one of the best photographers in our area.  Talk about pressure!  We’ve known of each other for a while and have visited on FB several times…but Friday was our first official meeting.  I greatly admire Aaron’s work so I was slightly intimidated going in to the shoot.  But Aaron was gracious and awesome to work with.  We laughed as she realized how her clients feel being on the other side of the camera.  We laughed as the wind whipped her veil around.  We laughed about shared client stories.  We laughed…about a lot!  By the end, we decided we must be long-lost twins or something.  It was so much fun, and I’m looking forward to my turn to get on the other side of her camera!  Enjoy your sneak peek!!!

Sneak Peek Erin & Lauren {Kansas Senior Photographer}

Posted on August 14, 2009

These two beautiful girls met me in Dodge yesterday to start our fun adventure of senior pictures.  We spent over an hour running around Dodge before heading back here to my “studio.”  On the way, we found a small, beautiful field of wild sunflowers.  The girls had requested to do their pictures together and to also get a shot in a sunflower field.  I was worried because none of our sunflower fields are mature enough for pictures…but when we saw this one, we pulled over and started snapping away.  The light was perfect, the location awesome and the subjects beautiful!  Erin’s mom told me the reason behind wanting the sunflower picture: Erin and Lauren’s moms met when the girls were very young and they were at a football game when the girls went missing.  After searching for them for 2 hours, the girls emerged from a sunflower field with bouquets of sunflowers!  Thus began a long-lasting friendship.  I had so much fun yesterday…but i won’t lie…I was EXHAUSTED last night!  Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!!
