Catching Up! {Kansas Family Photographer}
Posted on November 29, 2009
Sometimes my family gets the short end of the stick..especially during the busy season. It’s not always fair but I appreciate their patience and willingness to help me out. These images are of my sister-in-law and her little family….taken LAST Friday! I’ve been trying to keep my head above water this week so family images went to the back burner while I was concentrating on clients…hopefully everything will be caught up this week! Hope all of you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!!

Giveaway…from another blogger!
Posted on November 24, 2009
My favorite bow-making, orphan-loving Etsy seller is giving away $35 in free bows to someone tomorrow! It could be me!!! Just for posting this I get three entries in her drawing…and there are more ways to enter. Just visit her blog at Sugarplum Orphans to see how it could be YOUR name she draws!!! Kendra has a heart of gold and has grown this business out of her family’s desire to adopt. Here is a little blurb from her blog:
Handmade infant and children’s hairbows, clips, bands, crochet bands and beanies, flowers, bow holders, applique onesies for boys, and more! All proceeds benefit the plight of orphans worldwide. Custom orders welcome!
I have several of her bows on hand for newborn sessions and they are gorgeous…in fact, let me share some here!

Ricky ‘10|SGHS {Kansas Senior Photographer}
Posted on November 24, 2009
Ricky had to be convinced to do his senior pictures by one of my Senior Reps…but I don’t think he realized what he was in for. Short sleeves, 35 degrees, and slight breeze…CHILLY! But he was grateful to have missed a couple hours of school so I think he forgave me. I think we got some shots that both he and his mom will love. Enjoy the sneak peek!

“J” Family Sneak Peek {Kansas Family Photographer}
Posted on November 24, 2009
This is the session that almost wasn’t! From the time Amanda contacted me way back in the summer about doing family photos out in our CRP with the gorgeous back lighting I love, I was anticipating a fun, beautiful session. We originally had picked a date in October…but we all know how yucky the weather was in October. It was a cold, gray, windy day so we rescheduled hoping for some better weather a few weeks down the road. That weekend came and the little guy was sick! No one wants family photos with snotty noses!! So we rescheduled again…and we actually ended up with one of the most beautiful days of the month!
Amanda is a photographer herself so I was flattered she asked me to do their family portraits. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek…thanks for coming to Copeland!!!

Santa Came to Town! {Santa’s Helper Photographer}
Posted on November 23, 2009
We had several kiddos on Saturday at Rattle and Roll in Dodge City come to see Santa…most of them had never met Santa before so it was a real treat to see all their reactions! One little girl seemed to be in awe while another had a healthy dose of skepticism. One little boy couldn’t wait to see Santa…and then froze up when he came out! The babies did pretty good…only had one cry and that was after we got some nice snuggly shots. Santa was amazing and did a great job keeping the kids happy. Hope you all enjoy the sneak peek…and maybe it will put you in the Christmas spirit!

Dina braved the chilly wind yesterday for a few outdoor images, but we spent most of our 2 hours in studio. We kept each other laughing (though I’m still not sure if she was laughing AT me or WITH me half the time!)…and got some great senior images in the process! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Brian + Lisa = Engaged! {Kansas Wedding Photographer}
Posted on November 16, 2009
Miss Lisa was my next-door neighbor our freshman year of college, living in the dorms. She was from Wichita but seemed like any other small-town girl I knew…and she was there for me that first year through a lot of ups and downs. She was my ride to work, my Thursday night tv-watching buddy (when we weren’t working!), my “ear” (she heard all about Travis…much more than she wanted, I’m sure!), and my “shoulder” (she let me cry and comforted me when my best friend died). She was my person (Gray’s anyone?). Then I got married and she went back to Wichita to finish school. Time and distance separate us but we get together at least once a year and our connection remains. Whenever we are together, we are always amazed at how little changes between us…how it feels like no time passes. I am thrilled to get to stand up with her at her wedding in April, just as she did in mine over 11 years ago.
This past weekend, I met up with her and Brian to do their engagement photos. I was honored when she asked if I would do this for them…as much as I’d love to shoot their wedding, I would rather stand as her bridesmaid and help her enjoy the most important day of her life! So doing the engagement photos was a fun way to still be able to do some sort of phtoos for them. Even though it was a bit chilly, Brian kept Lisa warm and didn’t complain about how many pictures we were taking! Brian is a great guy (it doesn’t hurt he’s a KU fan!) and the perfect man for Lisa. Congrats to both of you…may your marriage be filled with love and happiness (and lots of babies!). ![]()

Anna| ‘10 Fowler High School {Kansas Senior Photographer}
Posted on November 11, 2009
Yesterday was one of those fall days that makes you want to stay in and read a good book…drizzly, gray and just a little chilly. It’s also the kind of day, if the drizzle lets up, that produces that soft, beautiful light we photographers love! There is no harsh sun casting shadows in all the wrong places and making us work for great places to shoot! We could have taken Anna’s senior pictures about anywhere and the light would have been great. In fact, that’s what we did! We found old buildings, a pile of milo, the elevators…wherever we could find a spot! It also helps when your senior trusts you and likes the ideas you have!!! Thanks so much to Anna and Lexi (the most awesome reflector holder ever!) and Diane for coming out to Copeland…hope you enjoy the sneak peek.
