Harris Family {Kansas Family Photographer}

Posted on September 10, 2011

Had the pleasure of meeting the Harris family yesterday!  Shawna won a session + print credit at an auction to benefit a local woman who was involved in a car wreck.  Her friends planned a golf tournament and silent auction to raise money to help her pay her medical bills…when they asked me to donate I was happy to!  I am told the session was a hot item at the auction, which was a relief to me!  So when Shawna called to schedule her appointment I was excited to meet her and her family.  She has a beautiful little 8 month old daughter…look at her amazing eyes!  I can tell her mommy and daddy are smitten with her.  Who wouldn’t be?  Thanks for coming in with your sweet little family, Shawna!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

Love this little family!  And the coordinating colors but not matchy-matchy style!  Lil’ sis has two awesome big brothers who I’m fairly certain will prevent her from ever having a boyfriend.  Thanks for coming in…great to see all of you!

Mason is ONE! {Kansas Baby Photographer}

Mason’s cake smash may have been the most fun one to date!  He went after it and demolished it in no time flat!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASON!!!!

I think every kiddo that comes in my studio is cute and adorable and absolutely photogenic…but sometimes I have little girls like Miss Sophia walk through my doors and I get lost in taking their picture.  She was such a ham…with a twinkle in her eye, cartwheels all over the park, and a sweet little smile.  I was in heaven!  We finished off the shoot with a fun sunset shoot out in some beautiful CRP.  How beautiful is she!

Miss Harper brought her momma and daddy in to the studio with her for a few family shots (only 5-6, according to dad!) and to capture her little personality at 3 months. She is in my Baby Steps club so we’ll see her every few months! The three month session is usually the trickiest of all the sessions I do…just because they are still a bit wobbly, it’s a challenge to get many smiles out of them unless you are right in their face, and they tire out quickly! But three month old babies are so adorable and no one can resist their charms! I’m looking forward to her six month session already!! Isn’t she a doll?

I just love this little family…they hold a special place in my heart. I was so excited to have them in the studio this week…and how cute are they?!?! We had a special reason to photograph each of them…from 6 month session for the baby to portfolio shots for little Miss to needing to capture Mr. P in his cowboy phase. Love these kiddos!!

Jen brought in the rest of her family to redeem her free family session with her senior package. (By the way, any 2011 seniors who have not done so already, call me for your free session by the end of JUNE!) She graduated last weekend as Valedictorian of her class…and has big plans for her future. But what I love about these images is that I can see how much this family loves each other…and at the same time they are letting go, they are holding on tighter than ever. Families grow and change together…but forever remain a family.

Miss Shaelyn has been so special to our family over the last several years…and then she was an awesome senior rep for me last year.  It’s so hard to believe this little girl I first met when I was teaching her swimming lessons 10 years ago is ready to head off to college.  I had to miss her actual graduation because it was the same day as my brother’s graduation from KU…and the whole family was in town and wanting family pictures.  They were so awesome and flexible with me after I realized the two graduations would fall on the same day…we ended up with a cool, overcast morning with rain threatening but it held off for us to get some gorgeous images in my in-laws backyard.  I love shooting back there under a canopy of trees with beautiful flowers around every corner…doesn’t sound like southwest Kansas does it?

Sneak Peek {Kansas Family Photographer}

Posted on August 31, 2009

I had the pleasure Saturday morning of capturing this 4-generation image! Dr. Gwaltney is a fabulous eye doctor in Dodge City…she’s the one who put Emma in glasses and helped dig out a piece of metal from Travis’s eye at one point. And…she’s a fellow Jayhawk!! She brought her mom and grandmother and daughter to get this generations shot…which I love. We got a few of Miss M for her 3-year pictures. She’s only a couple of months older than Madelyn…but she’s so much taller! Try to imagine…Madelyn is in the 4th % for height and Miss M is usually over the 100th% !!! We had fun with bubbles and peacock feathers and little mice…I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!!

I was a little intimidated going into this session because mom had told me the almost-three-year-old had a hard time at his session a year ago. I made sure to have plenty of my sure-fire secrets planned to keep his attention…and was prepared to work fast and be happy with whatever we would get. Well…he did GREAT! Mom and I were so impressed! Little sister wasn’t as smiley this time but she at least looked at the camera. Anyway…I had fun and was relieved it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I anticipated. Thanks for a fun start to my day!! Enjoy the sneak peek!
