Kalli is my hair dresser.  And my therapist.  And my style guru.  And my cheerleader.  And one of my best friends!  Sitting in her chair every couple of months for the last four years has bonded us…is it too dramatic to say I’m glad God chose her to be my hair dresser?  Is hair dresser even the right term any more?  HA!

I absolutely loved taking these images of Kalli, her bump, and her family yesterday…to get to this point has been a struggle but yesterday felt like another celebration.  I cannot wait to hold this little baby and tell her how much she is loved…by her momma and daddy and of course her big sister.  And by some crazy woman with a camera who sits in her momma’s chair and tells her all her life stories.

Had a gorgeous maternity session this morning…aside from the purple cats I had to endure.  I’m starting to wonder if my membership to KU Alumni is going to be revoked with all these cat-backers coming to the studio!  Even Dad joined in on some of the images…while I know it is hard to get Dad  to participate in these sessions sometimes, it really does add a sweet element to the images.

Looking forward to the newborn images whenever this little guy decides to make an appearance!

I just love maternity sessions…the excitement and anticipation of a new life brings a family together in such powerful ways. And the anticipation of a new son in this family is no less exciting!! If Miss M shares her blue eyes with her new brother, this momma and daddy are going to have it rough during those teenage dating years. I am so excited to head to Larned when the baby arrives to capture those precious moments in the first couple weeks of life…and perhaps that is the real reason I love maternity sessions so much!

I have to explain the first image, as I am sure anyone looking at it will wonder what I was thinking putting a common dandelion in an image! But…little Miss M went to play in the park with her daddy while I finished up with Mom. Just as we were wrapping up, Miss M came in with a fistful of flowers for her momma….sometimes, there is no more beautiful flower than the ones your own child hands to you!

So…I talked forced my beautiful sister into doing some maternity images.  She’s been feeling “huge” these last few weeks…give me a break!  Look at these!!!  I hope when she sees these she realizes how beautiful she is!  (You can help by leaving her a comment and telling her so!)  Thanks for doing these, sis…hopefully you will enjoy them when you can look back on this time with fondness and not remember the aches, swelling, heartburn, and overall uncomfortableness that is pregnancy.  I can NOT wait for this baby to be here…both as a photographer and an aunt.  Mostly an aunt.  :)   Love you!

I’ve known Savannah since she went to preschool with my brother. And now, here she is, carrying her first child!! She is a gorgeous momma-to-be and was willing to try anything I asked. She followed up her session yesterday with a baby shower…all that’s left now is the waiting. Enjoy these last few weeks Savannah…especially the sleep!
